5G Launch in India
On 1st October 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the first phase of 5G services in the sixth edition of the Indian Mobile Congress (IMC) 2022 with the theme “New Digital Universe” at Pragati Maidan, Delhi. 5G services in the first phase are available only in a few cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, and Hyderabad.
Benefits of 5G
Following the earlier generations of mobile networks (2G, 3G, and 4G), the Fifth-generation wireless technology (5G) delivers higher data transfer rates and greater responsiveness than prior generations. 5G services in India will result in stable and efficient connection speeds that will transform our digital life! With more radio spectrum accessible, 5G technology allows more devices to connect to the internet at the same time on the same network.
Jio 5G Services
Jio named its 5G services Jio True 5G. It claims that its 5G services are superior with the advantages like stand-alone 5G architecture and the largest mix of the spectrum.
Stand-alone 5G architecture offers powerful functionalities like low latency, massive machine-to-machine communication, 5G voice, Edge computing, and network slicing and is not dependent on existing 4G networks.
Jio True 5G supports the largest and the most appropriate mix of wireless spectrum for 5G across 700 MHz, 3500 MHz, and 26 GHz bands. Also, Jio is the only operator that has access to the 700 MHz low-band spectrum for deep indoor network coverage.

Airtel 5G Services
Airtel is calling its 5G services as Airtel 5G Plus. Airtel is offering Airtel 5G Plus services in 8 cities in a phased manner – Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Siliguri, Nagpur and Varanasi. Airtel continues to construct its network and complete the roll out in urban India by 2023 making it one of the fastest roll-outs.
Airtel 5G Plus claims that it will allow superfast access to High Definition video streaming, gaming, multiple chatting, instant uploading of photos.

Vi 5G Services
